Scholarships & Grants
These scholarships and grants are made possible by each and every person that donates either via program sponsors, business sponsors, promoting and advertising, or from just everyday people wanting to give the dancers excellent means to have these phenomenal opportunities to further their dance and academic careers.
Each year we also have the young Choreography and Tap showcase. This is an opportunity for the LBT company members to showcase their beautiful skills in choreographing their own routines, or routines with a group or partner. The dancers work tirelessly to make sure that every element of their piece is smooth and graceful, and also fun!
Donations also go to new costumes, and various show items that make the productions so wonderful and amazing.
Little Ballet Theatre is honored to be a part of the Clatsop County Cultural Coalition. Being a part of this wonderful organization has enabled us to do so much for our dancers. We are so pleased to be able to offer scholarship grants and academic grants. The scholarship grants are awarded to the dancers after an adjudication. The grants go to events to help the dancers further their dancing careers. Scholarships have been used during the EPIC summer intensives, New York City Dance Alliance workshops, Joffrey Ballet, and various other programs across the country.
The academic grants are for graduating seniors. After an application, and an interview process, our graduating seniors are awarded a grant to use for their second term at their chosen college or university.
LBT events our dancers and community participates in are the Young Choreographery and Tap Showcase at the Liberty Theater, NYCDA dance workshop, Nutcracker School tour, Thrill the World Thriller video, and much more!

NUTCRACKER 2024
The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky has been a time honored, performed world renowned Ballet.
Little Ballet Theatre pulls out all the stops and tries to make the time honored tradition unique in our own fantastic way. To the Stahlbaum house for a wonderful party, to nutcracker stealing antics from Fritz, and a surprise appearance from Dr. Drosslemeyer. LBT’s production of the Nutcracker is such a wonderful and fantastic performance.
We will take you through the fight of the Rat King with the Nutcracker Prince. Then we will whisk you away to the winter wonderlands of the Snow Kingdom, then we will journey through the kingdom of sweets where Clara and the Nutcracker Prince will embark on a night of sweet dances from coffee, to Nougat, then to Chocolate and Marzipan. Then as the sweet little candy ribbons dance around Mother Ginger and her bon-bons, Clara and the Nutcracker Prince are absolutely entranced in the Wonderful fantasy of the Kingdom of Sweets.
Together with our 55 piece live orchestra conducted by none other than the amazing Cory Pederson, performed with the dancers on all the shows, they bring it all together for three magical nights of a whirlwind adventure with Clara and her Nutcracker Prince.

The Little Ballet Theatre Board of Directors are here to make sure everything runs smoothly behind the curtains. The board makes decisions unanimously to further and better the Little Ballet Theatre program, and to enrich the community and bring awareness to the non-profit that helps the dancers. The board of directors meets once a month to bring volunteer, fundraising, and other community topics to be discussed. Also, costumes, props, and things that are in need of repair are brought up and researched before coming to decisions for the betterment of the program.
The LBT Story
Since its founding in 1974, Little Ballet Theatre, Inc. (LBT) has been dedicated to nurturing the art of dance and supporting aspiring dancers in the Lower Columbia Coastal Area. As a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation, we are proud to be endorsed by the Oregon Cultural Trust and the Clatsop County Cultural Coalition.
LBT offers grants for talented dancers wishing to attend master classes and summer intensives, providing them with invaluable opportunities to hone their skills. Our funding comes from the proceeds of our beloved annual production of the Nutcracker, alongside other events and the generosity of our sponsors. We also extend our support to graduating seniors through academic grants, recognizing the importance of education alongside artistic development.
Every spring, our dance company members showcase their creativity in the Young Choreographers Showcase at the Historic Liberty Theatre, performing original works that highlight their unique talents. In the summer, we host the North Coast Summer Dance Camp, featuring esteemed guest instructors from major dance companies and schools across the Pacific Northwest.
Our signature event, the annual Nutcracker ballet, is a highlight of the holiday season, featuring professional guest artists, over 100 local dancers, a dedicated volunteer staff, and a stunning 50-piece orchestra. This enchanting production has gained national attention, having been featured on NBC’s Today Show and invited to perform with the Oregon East Symphony in Pendleton. With three traditional performances, the Nutcracker is truly a cherished jewel of North Coast holiday celebrations.
LBT comprises four levels of company members—Senior, Junior, Apprentice, and Aspirant—selected based on skill, dedication, and participation in enrichment classes and events.
Our Mission
At Little Ballet Theatre, Inc., we aim to promote and foster dance by presenting high-quality programs that offer dancers the opportunity to grow and shine. We are committed to enriching our community culturally and providing resources for gifted dancers to advance their training, as well as supporting the next generation of talent through scholarships for graduating seniors.
Join us in our mission to elevate dance in our community and inspire the dancers of tomorrow!
Orchestra circle of friends
The Orchestra circle of friends, is a fundraiser in order to help our wonderful 55-piece orchestra in all of the endeavors. Anyone who wishes to donate may do so. All proceeds go to directly to the orchestra, this will ensure that all their instruments, and anything else they need is taken care of.
